Marriage records of Justice of the Peace
Abe Strickman - Index
The marriage information in this index is taken from a small black notebook that was kept by Justice of the Peace Abe Strickman. The marriages recorded cover the period between June 1932 and March 1955.
This index lists the names and ages of the bride and groom as well as their wedding date. Also included in Mr. Strickman’s notebook is the town of their residence and the witnesses to the marriage.
Mr. Strickman’s notebook is in the collection at the Elgin History Museum.

Get Acquainted Cartoons
On July 10, 1943 the Elgin Courier-News published a "Get Acquainted" edition.
The paper featured stories about local stores, firms, business and professional men and women, individuals such as clergymen, presidents of civic clubs, heads of lodges and other none commercial organizations. Highlighting each story are cartoons of each person employed in a business or head of an organization. These cartoons were drawn from photos taken by the newspaper staff. More than 100 local stores, firms and business and professional men and women participated.
